Players Revolution Sports, a Dallas-based tech startup, announced Wednesday that it will launch a crowdfunding campaign March 12 on Kickstarter to promote a beta release of EPLAY, a new adult sports management app.

According to a release, the app will “put the world of adult sports in the palm of your hand,” and the patent-pending system is aimed at players, officials, facilities, and league mangers.

“1 in 4 adults in America play some form of recreational sports,” said Players Revolution Sports President Ryan Girardot said in the release, “making it a billion-dollar recurring-revenue industry.”

Girardot, who has a decade of experience organizing and managing basketball leagues across the country, said that in the adult sports market,  less than 25 percent of it has been effectively serviced by the traditional adult recreational league system.

“We are putting the power directly in the hands of the participants, creating unlimited opportunity for growth and participation,” Girardot said.

Girardot is launching his EPLAY app in Dallas, and at first will focus on the sport of basketball.

If successful, EPLAY is designed to expand to other sports.

The Kickstarter campaign launch is intended to capitalize on the public national announcement of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament brackets on Sunday, March 12.

EPLAY APP GIVES ADULT SPORTS ENTHUSIASTS INSTANT ACCESS

“The key to what we are doing with EPLAY is integration and instant access of information on the go” said Charles Gaines, chief product evangelist for Player Revolution Sports. “There is no other resource like this that provides it all in one place. Not only do we allow individual players to facilitate their own games with stats that count toward national career standings, but they are no longer limited by traditional barriers.”

The company said that EPLAY emerged in January from a successful alpha-test stage, and was chosen by the Texas Legends, the NBA D-League team of the Dallas Mavericks as a partner to help manage its ongoing player evaluation and tryout process.
