DFW Leads List of Top Cities for Micro-Businesses

Office building construction bringing in new corporations and thousands of new residents boosted the area.

Another ranking has placed Dallas at the top, this time for micro-businesses collecting the highest average in invoices in 2016.

According to a report in the Dallas Business Journal, Invoice2go released its second annual ranking of the top 25 U.S. cities for micro-businesses — those with one to five workers.

Dallas topped the list for 2016 with average invoices per business of $214,805, jumping from eighth place in 2015. Last year’s top city, Seattle, fell to No. 3.

What caused Dallas to jump up so much on the ranking?

Study authors said the ongoing boom in office construction that is bringing new corporations and thousands of new residents to the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

Portland, Oregon ranked No. 2 on the list with $201,498 in average invoices per business in 2016.
