22 DFW Companies Make 2017 Fortune 500 List

Dallas-Fort Worth holds two of the top 10 spots in the rankings of U.S. companies by total fiscal year revenue.

Dallas-Fort Worth is well represented on this year’s Fortune 500 list with 22 local companies earning a spot in the coveted rankings. 

It’s the 63rd year for the Fortune magazine list which annually ranks 500 U.S. companies by total fiscal year revenue. According to fortune.com, 2017 Fortune 500 companies account for two-thirds of the U.S. GDP with $12 trillion in revenues.

WAL-MART TOPS THE FORTUNE 500 LIST

In total, 50 Texas-based companies made the 2017 list, trailing New York’s 54 and California’s 53. 

DFW holds two of the top 10 spots, with Irving-based Exxon Mobil Corp. in fourth and Dallas-based AT&T Inc. in ninth.

For the fifth consecutive year, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. made the list’s top spot with $485.87 billion in 2016 revenue. Exxon, Wal-Mart, and General Motors are the only three companies that have held the top spot since the inaugural Fortune 500 ranking in 1955, The Dallas Morning News noted.
