Big News From Dallas Innovates

When I interviewed Jana Pruet for the Dallas Innovates Editor position, I asked her what her dream job is. She told me that dream jobs change.

I understood exactly what she was saying.

For the past 53 days, I’ve had the pleasure of working with our incredible Voices, freelancers, and sponsors to bring you the stories about how innovative our community is.

For the past eight and a half years, I’ve had the pleasure of working for a company that daily lives up to its tagline: Making Dallas Even Better.

But today is my last day. And it’s with a few bittersweet tears in my eyes that I give you my last bit of official news: the new editor of Dallas Innovates is Jana Pruet. Pruet comes to us from SMU and the Dallas Morning News (with some freelancing stints with the New York Post, Reuters, CNN, and Speakeasy). She knows how to craft a sentence, and is also a social media maven (she’s Hootsuite certified, after all). I know that the site is in great hands with Pruet and the amazing Dallas Innovates team we have (including Quincy Preston, Sarah Bennett, Michael Samples, Courtney Garza, Joni Margotta, Kyle Moss, and some of the best interns our company has ever seen—looking at you, Michael, Harrison, Gabrielle, and Kyla). And know that I won’t be far: I’ll continue as Editor-at-Large and remain an Adviser for Dallas Innovates.

For Pruet, her dream job right now is as editor of Dallas Innovates. Since the fourth grade, my dream job has been to share the stories of the people who make a difference in their cities. As I’ve aged, the way I’ve executed my dream job has shifted slightly, and because I’ve worked at one of the most accommodating and forward-thinking companies around, it’s worked. It’s all led to my next dream job: managing director of the Better Block Foundation. I can’t wait to take on this new role, and I can’t wait to meet all of you here at DallasInnovates.com to read your stories—and perhaps share a few new ones of my own.

Happy innovating, Dallas!
